American Ice Dancers Set World Record—Canada’s Press Call Shenanigans
Four years ago, America’s Charlie White and Meryl Davis won a silver medal at the Vancouver Olympics, and in the past two years, the pair has become unbeatable, even by the Vancouver gold medalists, Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir. Last night, White and Davis put up a record score of 78.89 points—giving them a 2.5 point lead over Canada’s Virtue and Moir. While some Canadians accused the scores of being fixed, the IOC called the accusations gossip and will not investigate. Going into today, the couples had one program left, the free dance. Bode Miller Breaks Down After Winning, Internet Reacts
Ski fans know what an emotional Olympics these have been for 36-year-old Bode Miller. After missing the podium earlier this week, the veteran skier won his sixth Olympic medal on Sunday for the super-G, making him the oldest Alpine skier to win a medal. Miller tied for a bronze medal in the event, but it was his post-race interview that got people talking. NBC and correspondent Christin Cooper came under fire on social media after pressing questions of Miller’s late brother, who died last April of a seizure, caused Miller to break down into tears. Fans were unhappy the NBC cameras followed Miller’s emotional reaction for over a minute.
Later, Miller took to social media to express his gratitude towards his fans and to defend Cooper:

Nike Announces “Power Laces”
In non-Olympic news, social media blew up this weekend when Nike designers announced that they would be releasing Back to the Future II “Power Laces” shoes. In the film, the main character, Marty McFly, travels into the year 2015 where he interacts with many high tech devices from a waiter-interface to a hover board. Nike’s “Power Laces” were among the most memorable futuristic devices. In 2011, the company released 1,500 replicas of the shoe with the proceeds benefiting Michael J. Fox’s (who played Marty McFly) charity; however, the shoes notably missed the most high tech feature. It seems Nike is set to release the “Power Laces” just in time.
Ellen Page Comes Out in a Big Way
This Valentine’s Day, Ellen Page shocked many at the Time to THRIVE benefit for LGBT youth. During her speech, she announced, “I am here because I am gay, and because maybe I can make a difference.” Her strong and inspiring move made quite the splash on Twitter, with several celebs congratulating her on her choice:

Snake Salvation Star Dies
Jamie Coots, pastor from Kentucky and the star of Snake Salvation, a reality show about snake handling, died this weekend. Ironically, Coots died of a poisonous snake bite, which he ardently claimed would not harm him. Coots interpreted a famous bible passage to mean that anointed believers could not be harmed by snake bites. Coots collected snakes and has been arrested several times for transporting venomous snakes across state lines and harboring more than 74 in his home. Coots’ son, Cody was expected to carry on his tradition and church Full Gospel Tabernacle.
